Hello everybody, if you have read my story you know that I have a brother that is autistic so it only makes sense for me to do this post in honor of him and any other people that are autistic and especially their families and friends that support them and help them. I hope you wore at least something blue today in honor of all those people who have autism, and if not you don’t have to feel bad, just go put on a hat or necklace or something. You can go donate at the link at the bottom of this blog post which is also the link to the page I got the featured image.
But it is not my job for me to explain to you what autism is, if you don’t already know then go look it up on your favorite search engine, because chances are the people on the rest of the interweb can explain it way better than I can. You can also check out the link at the bottom to learn all about autism. I am just going to be telling you a little bit about my brother. because he is my best friend and him and people like him deserve this day all across the world to be recognized.
I am not going to lie to you guys, I already had a post ready for today about my April Fool’s day experience this year, but then I thought that this is more important to get the word out then tell a few stories about practical jokes. I hope that if you enjoy my post or even if you don’t that you make your own post about this topic today or re-blog my post so we can spread the word one blog at a time. Anyway onto my brother…
I am not going to sit here and tell you the negatives about my brother and his life and what he has gone through, I am going to tell you the positives and how much he strives to become like us all despite his challenge in life. I can still remember the day that my brother was born, and as soon as he got all cleaned up I got to hold him and I have pictures of me just smiling like I was in a candy store because I had a little brother, I didn’t care about his autism I still loved him the same. And I am also gonna just say that we are lucky that my brother is fairly lower on the autism spectrum compared to some people.
But my brother has always been kind of a pain and I have a feeling that that is not going to change for a very long time, and that isn’t because of his autism it’s because we are brothers that argue every once in awhile but by the end of the day I love and care about him as much as I have since the day I held him.
He is in Middle School and it seems like the same things that I did back then are so tough for him, but you want to know something? This last semester with some help from his family he achieved one of his greatest achievements by getting a 4.0 grade point average. Now if you could’ve seen how happy I was for him that day and how he proud of this, then you would’ve gave him a pat on the back and a hug. I could keep talking about him for weeks and weeks of posts but I want to keep this short and sweet and to the point.
Despite his challenges he has overcome them to become the young man that he wants to be just like anyone else. Many others are trying to achieve this all over the world and need help. That is why we have this day celebrated all around the world, not just for helping others with donations, but also to get those people that have never heard of autism or the spectrum to finally understand it and comprehend the challenges that these people have to go through every day. Before I end this post I would like to thank any of you out there that is a family member of a autistic individual because even though they might not need every bit of help you give them, the support is what keeps everybody going. Again if you feel like learning more or donating to the cause, the link is at the bottom below my outro.
